My analysis stands, Russia is great at producing gee-whiz weapons but terrible at fighting wars. Russian soldiers lack training, discipline, professionalism, and probably experience. Their army seems to lack the basic tenets of warfighting, their leaders will continue sacrificing a high percentage of their soldiers to achieve almost impossible tasks. Sacrifice is the key word in the last sentence, and the Russian people seem to accept this. I’m not sure they have much choice, in their minds, and the Russian people have grown complacent.
Russia is capable of killing lots and lots of civilians in a war zone, but appears to lack the capability of killing an opposing military force. Yet, somehow, Russia appears to be laying the groundwork for invading Ukraine. Doctrinally the Soviets always had to have a minimum of a 7:1 ratio to attack, and preferred a 10:1 ratio. By their own doctrine, Russia lacks the manpower to achieve their goals and still maintain a standing force in the remainder of Russia. This leaves Russia very vulnerable if or when they were to attack Ukraine.
The indiscriminate massacre of Syrian civilians by the Russian Air Force indicates a lack of precision, discipline, and accountability. Quite literally, committing war crimes appears to be acceptable by the Russian military.
In the greater picture, the world lacks the means of holding Russia accountable. We seem to lack the will, as well.

Nationalistic blogger gloating about the kill ratio between Ukrainian and Russian forces up to the Debaltsevo ceasefire.
The orange book covers are from Savitskiy’s series of Russian pulp war novels about Ukrainians massacring ethnic Russians, and produced as nationalistic and separatist propaganda before the Russian invasion. The first one is entitled “Field of Battle – Ukraine”, the second, “Ukraine in Blood; The Banderivets Genocide”.
So people in Ukraine have also tallied the numbers and reached the same conclusions. NB of the 2,500 AFU personnel listed KIA, over a thousand were non-combat accidents, i.e. weps mishandling, vehicle crashes, crushed by vehicles or equipment, and drunken accidents. So 1,500 AFU personnel actually KIA in combat, and ~15,000 Russian Gruz-200 tossed down mineshafts or sent home in refrigerator trucks.
Yet Putin continues to plot and prepare for a large scale invasion. If a 10:1 kill ratio does not stop them, what will?

The ratio of personnel losses of the AFU and Russian armies in the Donbas was one to ten. 16/3/15
It is not fun, but it is extremely important statistics provided command ATO. The ratio of personnel losses APU and Russian armies in the Donbas was one to ten.
It is not fun, but it is extremely important statistics provided command ATO.
According to the data given by them for the loss of the Russian army during military operations in Ukraine are:

And from February 15, 2015, ie, from the date of the armistice, Russia’s losses as a result of the continuing attempts to storm the APU were about 1,300 personnel, of which Debaltsevskom direction than 600 people.
On our side during the time of hostilities in Donbas according to official statistics killed 1549 soldiers and more than 6,200 injured.
This is the best display that illustrates the reality of the situation at the front.
In spite of all the so-called Russian army advances they are her terrible loss of blood and the ratio of one to ten shows that methods of warfare of the last century in Russia have not changed.
Russian soldier thrown into the attack as minced meat!
AFU soldiers say:
It seems that in Russia an endless supply of people, despite the huge losses, the next day comes the completion of the new recruits, and in fact, without any preparation carelessly thrown into the attack on our borders.
One can not help get the impression that in Russia the lowest cost of human life, and what is most surprising is confirmed by the Russians themselves, going to the Ukraine to the slaughter.
So only the latest figures in Ukraine are 25 thousand military experts from Russia, whose fate is predetermined
